Meet Our Amazing Physicians
Dr. Jayson A. Hymes
M.D., M.P.H., D.F.A.C.P.M., D.F.A.S.A.M., Q.M.E.
Dr. Jayson Hymes is the Medical Director of Addiction Specialists of Southern California. Formerly the owner and Medical Director of Conservative Care Specialists Medical Group, Inc. which was dedicated to the treatment of Pain and Addiction. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed his postgraduate training at the Harvard Medical Associated Hospitals and the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, where he completed a residency in Anesthesiology and a fellowship in Pain Medicine. He later completed a fellowship in Addiction Medicine. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Addiction Medicine, American Board of Pain Medicine, and the American Society of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Hymes is also a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, as well as the American College of Pain Medicine, a Qualified Medical Evaluator, and a Medical Review Officer (Stage I) and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at The University of Southern California School of Medicine.
Dr. Hymes was an Assistant Professor at Emory University Medical School in Atlanta, Georgia, founder of its pain center then the co-director of the Pain Center at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He has practiced only in Addiction and Pain Medicine for over 40 years. He is a member of the American Society of Addiction, the American Pain Society, the International Association for the Study of Pain, the International Neuromodulation Society, and the American Academy of Pain Medicine. He is a graduate of the citizens academy of the Drug Enforcement Administration and was a Medical Council to its Los Angeles Field Office.
He currently has a private practice in Beverly Hills limited to cutting-edge treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism and is also the Medical Director of both a residential drug treatment facility and an intensive outpatient drug treatment program.
Dr. Adam Karns
M.D.
Dr. Adam Karns is an Internal Medicine physician serving patients in the Los Angeles, CA area. Dr. Karns feels strongly that each and every patient deserves the highest standard of medical care. Dr. Karns strives to provide exactly that to each patient every day. As a member of our team here at Addiction Specialists of Southern California, Dr. Karns offers primary care services including hypertension treatment, diabetes treatment, mental health treatment, ear infection treatment, heart disease treatment, common cold treatment, obesity management, and much more through physical exams and diagnostics.
Dr. Karns attended the University of California Los Angeles, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in History. He then went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Physiological Studies and Doctorate of Medicine from Chicago Medical School. With more than 18 years of experience as a board-certified Internal Medicine physician, Dr. Karns has the knowledge and experience to provide patients with the very best in care.
Dr. Tiffany Sani
PsyD.
Dr. Sani has been practicing in the field of psychology for the last 20 years specializing in the assessment and treatment of individuals with cognitive, learning, functional and emotional challenges. She is passionate about serving the individuals she supports and instills a whole-person approach in therapy, which also emphasizes compassion, insight, self-awareness and empowerment to help individuals live more gratifying lives.
With great interest in understanding the human mind and body, Dr. Sani has extensive training and experience in the psychobiological approach to human functioning and treatment. She has dedicated her efforts to studying the mind and body connection and aims to treat and support the whole person. She holds certifications in various trainings and modalities including addiction and the neurobiology of substance use, cognitive therapies as well as cognitive-behavioral therapy, somatic psychotherapy, trauma treatment, EMDR, grief and loss therapy, biofeedback/ neurofeedback, mindfulness, guided imagery, sensorimotor therapy, creative arts therapy, and hypnotherapy.
She has served as the clinical director for various practices and programs through out her career in conjunction with her own private practice. In more recent years, she served at the clinical director of the Functional Restoration Program in collaboration with Dr. Jayson Hymes and a team of leading experts in the field of addiction and chronic pain.
Through the lens of compassion and understanding she aims to assist individuals to better understand the roots and biology of their current behavior patterns and challenges. In that process, there can be better reach and opportunity to foster healing of the mind and body’s memory of past traumas and experiences affecting our current lives. Dr. Sani considers it a privilege to serve the individuals she works with, and strives to support them in the most comprehensive manner.
